How the FDA’s Crackdown on Homeopathy Is Just More Big Brother Overreach
I’m not a lab coat and I don’t play chemist. I grow herbs, I infuse oils, I make small-batch remedies the way it’s always been done….with time, intention, and prayer. There’s nothing complicated about what I do. And yet, here we are, staring down the barrel of new regulations that threaten to strangle the very heartbeat of natural, grassroots healing.
The FDA, backed by people like Senator Dick Durbin, is trying to tighten the leash on homeopaths, herbalists, and small apothecaries. What is their latest push? A bill that would require pre-market registration for every product, every label, every single word on the jar. Sounds innocent enough, right? “Transparency,” they say. “Safety,” they claim.
Let’s call it what it is, control.
Who’s Behind It?
Senator Dick Durbin has been trying for years to push through his “Dietary Supplement Listing Act,” and now he’s teaming up with the FDA to finally get it done. If this passes, small makers like me will be forced to register every formula and label with the government before anything ever touches a shelf.
This goes beyond being a hassle, it’s a direct threat to the survival of small, independent creators.
Meanwhile, Big Pharma Walks Free
Pharmaceutical giants can flood the market with brand-new drugs that cause more side effects than the symptoms they claim to treat. They can rake in billions, harm thousands, and walk away legally protected.
But comfrey, plantain, lavender, and calendula? Oh no! Those need to be “regulated.”
Why? Because those can’t be patented. Because when healing is simple and accessible, the profit machine starts to break down. So instead of embracing the wisdom of generations past, they smother it in red tape.
This Isn’t About Safety. It’s About Making You Give Up
Here’s what they’re not telling you: abiding by their rules comes at a cost, and let me tell you, it will not be cheap.
Just like with the USDA “Certified Organic” label, the minute you try to play in their sandbox, they hit you with fees, inspections, and red tape. You either fork over thousands of dollars, or you’re out.
This has zero to do with making sure that the public is getting the best that is out there. It’s about raising the cost so high that small-batch makers can’t afford to stay in the game. It’s about creating a toll booth between the people and the remedies they’ve used for centuries.
And who benefits when we can’t afford to keep going?
Not you.
Not me.
Big Pharma. Every. Single. Time.
So What Can We Do?
We keep going.
We stay rooted in tradition and refuse to give up our sovereignty! We speak out! We support local apothecaries! We learn to make our own medicine! We keep the wisdom alive.
Because if they get their way, it won’t just be homeopathic products disappearing from shelves. It’ll be your freedom to choose.
We Will Not Comply with Tyranny in a Lab Coat
Here at Rock Creek Sundries and my Rock Creek Apothecary, I’m not changing a damn thing to fit their comfort. I’m not watering down my products or my convictions. I’m doubling down.
Every balm I make is a quiet act of rebellion.
Every jar is a return to truth.
And if they don’t like it?
They can watch as we rise anyway. We are sovereign beings! No one can take away our God Given Rights!
Support small businesses, support grassroots, support your local homestead and support homegrown apothecaries!
With much Love and Lavender
